She can earn his trust like she did with Fu, (That's the Cantonese word for Tiger. My name means Monkey.) and then she will have her husband back. When you return from war, you do not trust easily. I know this because my father was in a war.

I loved the story, because my father's name is Fu, which means Tiger, and tigers are my favorite animal. I think Hok, Long, and Seh should be in the story as well! They are Cantonese names for animals. Hok is for Crane, Long is for Dragon, and Seh is for Snake.

Yun Ok is supposed to get closer to her husband by treating him with patience, tenderness, and a little fear. Eventually, when she is close and he is letting her pet him, she needs to trim his beard so that a hobbit can throw it into a fire.

It was a decent parable, but I didn't like the way it made Yun Ok completely responsible for her husband's anger. As a husband myself, I believe that emotional recovery is best reached when both the man and the wife strive for it. The tiger never decided that Yun Ok was safe, it was behaviorally conditioned to be complacent with her.
