Algathorpe's speech changed the prince's mind because he felt loved at the tender words the new king was saying. He also had a good deal of time to think about the fairy, his love & his actions. I believe that this was a lovely story.

He was a beast. Rating horrid on any scale. The worst. The pits. As a dog it's oh so much nicer than a fierce & feared beast. A dove symbolizes peace. Showing that he became better & peaceful to his acquaintances. As of the way people think of doves, it's a high scale of love. Being human once more shows he was approved as "good".
